Margo's maternal grandmother Rachel Hoff; she reportedly liked to sit rocking on the front porch while smoking a corncob pipe. Margo spent childhood summers with her grandparents in Missouri.

Art Class; the back of the second photo reads: "Giulia Von der Lancken, Central HS. 27" [Tulsa Central High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1927]; elsewhere the art teacher's name is given as Giulietta Van der Lanken; Margo studied with this teacher at Tulsa Central High School and later said (as told to Elizabeth "Betts" Brown), "I met people, teachers first who understood me... Grade school and then high school. And they even sent me notes at home, wrote me notes to tell me things...
